Yesterday I was reading some articles from a website called Dust Buddha. This page is dedicated to exposing the Dhamma as found in the suttas, and continuously to the author, Michael Olds, exhorts us to seek truth in the suttas, compare, not to relax, work, work, work!
However, their approach is different from what I've taken. He recommends reading us the suttas, again and again, until we get a complete picture of what the Buddha meant, while we meditate and meditate and meditate until we understand how to translate what he said the Buddha in our experience. In fact, proposes new translations for key terms of teaching, I are much closer than usual.
In my case, I prefer to stay with two or three basics of education (Four Noble Truths, Dependent Origination y. .. I think it already), and from there to practice, experiencing for myself what works and what does not, regardless of what he said Gotama. Question of approaches.
Now if any of you doubt between my approach and that of Mr. Olds, I recommend reading the suttas without delay: they are the best guide that you will find, and the board of Olds, meditate and compares until all is embedded in your mind, is one of the best things you can do.
